An honest and powerful essay—and beautifully written. Thank you for sharing it. It’s good to be reminded of how we need the sacred in order to survive. There’s always that tension between the limited nature of our language and our need for something “beyond the walls of this world” (as J.R.R. Tolkien put it).
Yes, gosh, I feel that tension daily. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I’m glad this essay connected with you and it means a lot to hear about it.
Beautiful. “When you are terrified of your body and demons are locked up in your psyche, paths of healing require a radical self-accompaniment that defies religiosity.” And I relate to so much of what you said about mothering.
Thank you! It means so much to me to have you here and to see your feedback:). The manifesto needs more time to percolate to become publishable, but it was so therapeutic/cathartic to begin this project by drafting one out in my journal. One of my daughter strategies to do something scary (like pulling off a bandaid or removing a thorn) is to just scream while she does it (the other is to deep breathe). The manifesto draft was my scream 😂

Excited to read your manifesto ❤️🔥
